Drawers solve a different problem from bins

A bin has to come off the shelf for you to reach the back of it. A drawer does not, which is the entire argument for the extra cost and the extra height. It matters most under a sink and in a wardrobe, where the shelf above is fixed and there is no room to lift anything out.

The trade is height. A stack of drawers needs clearance to open, and the runner is not free, and a two-drawer unit is taller than two bins of the same internal depth. Measure the clear height before the width here, because it is the dimension that rules a unit out.

Inside a drawer, dividers earn their place only if the things in it are small enough to migrate. Tools do not need them; cosmetics, cables and cutlery do.
